MYKITA
Founded in Berlin in 2003, MYKITA is an independent eyewear brand defined by modern engineering and precise craftsmanship. The brand’s name comes from “Kita”, a nod to the brand’s first workshop in a former daycare centre - a space that symbolizes their spirit of openness, curiosity and continuous self-development.
What defines MYKITA is their holistic, in-house approach with design, development and production all taking place under one roof at the MYKITA Haus in Berlin. The focus is on innovation - pushing the limits of materials and production methods while creating their own patented hinge designs and techniques. Specialised in blending craftsmanship with high-tech engineering, the brand utilizes advanced technologies such as laser cutting (Selective Laser Sintering) and 3D printing. Each frame undergoes an extensive manual process in-house with careful assembling, polishing and finishing to ensure complete quality control.
The brand’s commitment to sustainability is just a strong - with a fully integrated transparent supply network that is rarely seen in eyewear alongside corporate social responsibility and continuous material innovation. The brand has entirely switched to Acetate Renew which is a sustainable alternative, made from bio-based and recycled materials. Their signature stainless steel is sourced from Sweden and is made from 90% recycled content. To extend the lifespan of each lens, Mykita offers an in-house repair and maintenance program MYCARE, promoting conscious consumerism.
With a minimalist, lightweight yet functional approach to design, frames often feature screwless constructions, ultra-thin metal frames with architectural elegance. Their collaborative spirit with brand such as Leica, 032c and artist Bernhard Willheim show the brand's versatile abilities. Each Mykita frame embodies modern minimalism executed with depth, intention and care.
